It’s Black History Month. Many conservatives, Libertarians and Tea Partiers disapprove.
So what else is new?
Charles C. W. Cooke of the Right-wing National Review suggests that Black History Month is contrived and ”over with.” He believes that black people should get it together and join the rest of American history. We should stop being so racially divisionist as to require our own month. The cause of the uneven playing field, after all, are Black people themselves.
Affirmative Action, Civil Rights Laws, the Congressional Black Caucus, Black History Month…You know: All of the “special treatment” we Blacks in America get.

And the winner for the worst Congress…EVER…goes to… The 112th Congress for being ineffectual, childish and rendering the most powerful nation in the world impotent.
Many of you have heard the term Boondoggle before. It’s often used to describe huge impractical messes that our politicians get us into. The technical definition is: ”A wasteful or impractical project or activity.”
Just to get a good idea of what exactly that means, you know… in context, allow me to use it in a sentence:
The entire session of the 112th Congress was a complete Boondoggle, an utter waste of taxpayer money, in salaries and benefits, and time. Read the rest of this entry »

If you don’t buy a toaster by January 17, you will die.
Sounds stupid, doesn’t it? Yet it is no more ridiculous threat than the equally fictitious “fiscal cliff.” The daily chatter of ‘news’ outlets, talk shows and the water cooler is lemming lunacy. The cliff is not the problem. It’s the Lemmings who are running.

Remember the day after the mid term elections in 2010? President Obama was not shy about stating that his party, of which he is the standard bearer, took a major “shellacking.” They lost their majority in the House and their filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. [1]

The punditocracy has been abuzz for a post-election news cycle rife with the electoral stomping that Mitt Romney and the GOP took from minorities and women. Wonks and wags full of what it means for the future of the Republican Party. The answer is simple:
The Republican Party is dead. Long live centrist elitism!
American History tells us so. Taft Republicanism is still with us, but it is finally coming to its death throes.

There are thousands of candidates and hundreds of measures before the voters today. The economy is number one on most American’s minds, yet it is the farthest thing from anything you will see on a ballot. Before you pull a lever, punch a chad or draw a line across the broken arrow, maybe you should know what you’re REALLY voting for.

At the final debate President Obama was on point, clearly knowledgeable versus being coached, and had the better one-liners of the evening. He’s also still the black guy to about 43% of the country. Advantage: ROMNEY.
The 47%. Race. Unions. Women’s rights. Food Stamps. Medicaid. Student Loans. LGBT issues. Know the code. Anyone who thinks that this election is about the economy is delusional or an outright liar. This election is about tribalism and its hold on American power. The white “Us” against the “Other” and the “Lesser.” Read the rest of this entry »

There was once a time when you had to own property to vote. During that time, only white land owners were able to cast a ballot for representation, despite the fact that they were not the only people who would be governed. Now in 2012 ,there is a rash of legislation sweeping the country, swing states in particular, attempting to disenfranchise voters once again not with a poll tax or a test, but with a state identification card. Mitt Romney won last night’s debate by pundit scorecards. He’ll lose the week, though, as the media begins to digest his claims and press him for the specifics of his “plan” at odds with his last eighteen months of campaigning, and frequently, reality.

Fundamentalism is fundamentalism. Jidhadi or Teahadi. The rage and fear that is stoked is real, but it is only a by-product, not a popular groundswell of real thought or desire. These demonstrations of dystopian dysfunctionalism are the handiwork of a handful of powerful Oz-like people who hope these images sell their narrow agenda and keep them in power.
