It’s Black History Month. Many conservatives, Libertarians and Tea Partiers disapprove.
So what else is new?
Charles C. W. Cooke of the Right-wing National Review suggests that Black History Month is contrived and ”over with.” He believes that black people should get it together and join the rest of American history. We should stop being so racially divisionist as to require our own month. The cause of the uneven playing field, after all, are Black people themselves.
Affirmative Action, Civil Rights Laws, the Congressional Black Caucus, Black History Month…You know: All of the “special treatment” we Blacks in America get.

Who, exactly, is a “criminal?” According guns-gone-wild advocates, these weapons are there to protect us from “criminals.” Newtown shooter Adam Lanza had no prior criminal record. Gabrielle Giffords’ shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, had no prior criminal record. Nor do most of the people who make news as a murderer. What separates most gun owners from becoming criminals?

Fundamentalism is fundamentalism. Jidhadi or Teahadi. The rage and fear that is stoked is real, but it is only a by-product, not a popular groundswell of real thought or desire. These demonstrations of dystopian dysfunctionalism are the handiwork of a handful of powerful Oz-like people who hope these images sell their narrow agenda and keep them in power. If elected, Willard “Mitt” Romney would be the first President in U.S. history who has routinely bet against his country. Beyond the off-shore bank accounts in the Caribbean that would make Black Beard blanche, the Romney campaign may be raising back-door money from foreign nationals.
What does that buy? Huge political influence by way of a share in the office of President of the United States of America, the leader of the free world.
Who better but Romney, one of the most successful corporate raiders in history, to stand on the podium as President of the United States and preside over its economic dismantling, much as he did at American factories for so many years with Bain Capital?

Negative political ads work. A majority of Americans form political opinions from ads in their entertainment programming. 51% of the adult population of the United States is barely functionally literate. 94% have varying degrees of difficulty “synthesizing” complicated concepts.
We are devolving rapidly into America, the Ignorant.
How does Democracy thrive in a nation of 344 million Americans when only 2 in 10 of us read a newspaper, electronic news, or watch television news?
Another 2 in 10 listen to Right Wing Talk as their primary news source.

The American political system has been breached like the Ninth Ward in New Orleans by a judicial-activist Katrina: The Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision. Super PACs and billionaires are flooding the airwaves with billions in bile, but you and I, our neighbors and fellow citizens, are most to blame.
