Power. That’s the name of the game in Republican politics. Not principle. Not vision.  Who are the core players in that power game?  t2P has combed several lists of ‘key’ Republican players from the two opposing forces in the Radical Right, the Libertarians and the Neo Cons.  Our top ten list represents the people who, through political clout, money, or both, are seminal driving forces that corrupt Republican politics and push it to the extremist ends that it promotes today.

Freedom of speech is one of the great founding principals of the United States. In fact, the First Amendment specifically prohibits limitations on speech by the Government, with very few exceptions.  Rush Limbaugh is not one of those exceptions and he is forgetting the rule. To Rush Limbaugh and the GOP Dittoheads: It’s “We, the People,” not “I, the Person”

In 2012, Fascism, GOP, Health Care, Ideologies, Living, Media, Media News & Criticism, Neo Conservatives, Patriotism, Political Punditry, Politics, Radio News, Republicans, Right Wing Talk Radio, Rush Limbaugh, Totalitarianism, Women's Rights, Years on March 6, 2012 at 3:30 pm

Rush Limbaugh is an ass.

  • He thinks that the more sex you have, the more birth control pills you need to take.
  • He thinks women who need birth control are sluts.  If the collective “we” has to pay for contraceptive care, then the collective “we” should get to watch videos of girls having sex.
  • He thinks a woman , who speaks on behalf of a friend who lost an ovary because she was denied access to contraceptives, should have parents who are ashamed of her.

No, Rush. Shame on you.

Republicans need a new pledge: NO MORE TURNIPHEADS.

The primaries from Hell continue as the mediocre Mitt fends off reactionary Rick and nasty Newt. Another Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) closed last Sunday with more of the same brain-dead 19th century Libertarian-meets-”Christian” rhetoric that is to the party what ticks are to a dog.

Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Sarah Palin are the best that the Republican party can muster up?

Please.

Florida Should Worry Romney and the GOP: Miles from Momentum and Mandate

In 2012, Barack Obama, Bill O'Reilly, Campaign 2012, Democrats, Elections, Florida, Fox News, Glenn Beck, GOP, Herman Cain, Ideologies, Media, Mitt Romney, Neo Conservatives, Newt Gingrich, Partisan News, Political Punditry, Politics, Religious Right, Republicans, Rick Santorum, Rush Limbaugh, States, Tea Party, Television News, Tucker Carlson, Voting, Years on February 1, 2012 at 11:15 am

Mitt Romney got the headline from Florida that he was seeking out of the New York Times: “Romney Wins Big Over Gingrich.” That’s one way of looking at it.  A very shallow, reflection from the wading pond sort of view.  Diving the depths of the numbers, though reveals a different story: The whole GOP pack is failing; Romney still struggles, and is miles from a mandate.

The GOP and the Black Strawman

In 2012, African-Americans, Barack Obama, Birthers, Campaign 2012, Democrats, Elections, Fox News, GOP, Ideologies, Libertarian, Media, Mitt Romney, Neo Conservatives, Newt Gingrich, Political Punditry, Politics, Race, Racism, Republicans, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, Rush Limbaugh, Special Interests, Tea Party, Television News, Years on January 25, 2012 at 6:41 pm

GOP candidates have been running against the “Black Strawman.”

They have created a position, easily refuted by facts and evidence, which plays to basest fears, and the generational racial bias of the Republican party. This fear and bias is nothing new in this country, but the current position pushed by the GOP primary front-runners has a hit a new low. These candidates, Newt Gingrich in particular, have been using stereo types of the Black community to appeal to their base and in some places it appears to be working.

Democrats have a few whopping-bad ideas that we inject from time-to-time into the political system. One of them, the “response” to the State of the Union address, initiated under King Richard of Nixon in 1966, really has to go. [1] Read the rest of this entry »

Romney Wins in Iowa and New Hampshire Miss Mandate Mark

The public face of the Romney campaign is projecting power and trying to coalesce the GOP faithful around him. Privately, both the candidate and the GOP have to be worried. Neither primary win has been convincing, and their ballyhooed anti-Obama referendum evaporated.

Santorum Rises Armed with Super PAC Nukes, not Populist Wave

In 2011, 2012, Barack Obama, Bureaucracy, Campaign 2012, Christianity, Corporatocracy, Dead Billionaires Club, Democrats, DeVos Family Foundations, Elections, Faiths, Federal Government, Focus on the Family, Foster Friess, George W. The rapid rise in fortunes for the Rick Santorum campaign was not a sudden surge of populism. The real story of Tuesday’s Iowa Caucuses is that the hand of the uber-rich Libertarian and ultra-Christian Right can tilt elections, and tilt them quickly by way of the new Super PAC slush funds made possible by the Citizens United decision.

He profited from a surge of cash from shadowy SuperPACs which can form and fund candidates, then dissolve well before the Federal Election Commission (FEC) or the media can ascertain who they are, or who is behind them.

These will be the nuclear weapons of the 2012 political season, millions of shadow money being laundered before it is dumped into political campaigns by narrow-interest billionaires.
