To Rush Limbaugh and the GOP Dittoheads: It’s “We, the People,” not “I, the Person”

Rush Limbaugh is an ass.

  • He thinks that the more sex you have, the more birth control pills you need to take.
  • He thinks women who need birth control are sluts.  If the collective “we” has to pay for contraceptive care, then the collective “we” should get to watch videos of girls having sex.
  • He thinks a woman , who speaks on behalf of a friend who lost an ovary because she was denied access to contraceptives, should have parents who are ashamed of her.

No, Rush. Shame on you.

Democrats have a few whopping-bad ideas that we inject from time-to-time into the political system. One of them, the “response” to the State of the Union address, initiated under King Richard of Nixon in 1966, really has to go. [1] Read the rest of this entry »

The public face of the Romney campaign is projecting power and trying to coalesce the GOP faithful around him. Privately, both the candidate and the GOP have to be worried. Neither primary win has been convincing, and their ballyhooed anti-Obama referendum evaporated.

Ugly America: How the Far Right uses Fear, Hate, and Faux-Franchised Patriotism to Sell the Message of the 1% to 23%

That we have the kind of crass, horrific incivility in our polarized politics, and our Right-intimidated media, is not surprising.  What is sad, shocking, and somber, is the conduct of thousands, perhaps millions of Americans who do the bidding of the 1% even when it contradicts their own self-interest and their personal moral compass.

Herman Cain as Racial Distraction

This week at Truth-2-Power.com, I’ve been writing about both Barack Obama and Herman Cain. No, not the sex scandal, but the bigger financial scandal in the Cain campaign that the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal-Sentinel uncovered.  At the same time, I took about a week to sit back and really take a long, hard look at Barack Obama’s record.  What is interesting is the why of Herman Cain in relationship to President Obama.

Why have the Koch Brothers and the Club for Growth backed a man with hundreds of thousands of dollars who is so blatantly lacking the knowledge of social, government and world affairs that even Fox News people are left with their jaws literally hanging?

Have Republicans Lost Touch with the American Public?

More than 14 million people are unemployed. Las Vegas capped ten GOP presidential debates. Republican candidates have served up hard Right fan faves, from banning abortion to tax and regulation cuts. For the rest of us? Die if you don’t buy, and pull yourself up by your own bootstraps and you’ll make millions.  It’s sweet cherry Kool Aid for a thirsty minority. Is it in step with the general American public? If not, why are they pouring it?

Occupy Wall Street (OWS) protestors dodged Mayor Bloomberg’s left hook on the ground  last Friday, cleaning Liberty Square before the city could use it as an excuse to break up the demonstration, but the leaderless revolt continues to struggle with the 1%’s powerful gatling gun: The corporate-owned media that still influences the opinion of a majority of Americans.  Can they show equal brilliance in their air game, as well as their ground game?

Is the Tiny GOP Prolonging Economic Woes to Political Gain?

In 2011, Barack Obama, Bureaucracy, Campaign 2012, Corporatocracy, Democrats, Elections, Federal Government, Fox News, Ideologies, Liberals, Media, Media News & Criticism, Political Punditry, Politics, Radio News, Religious Right, Republicans, Roger Ailes, Rush Limbaugh, Tea Party, Television News, The Congress, The White House, Years on September 30, 2011 at 4:00 am

90% of the news cycle is being sucked down by a GOP that actually represents only 23% of the voting public [1], or  roughly 13% of the total population in the U.S.[2]   How does the tiny partisan party prevail in their presidential putsch when only 12% of non-partisans even lean Republican?  The answer requires determination, malignant mendacity, and tanking the economy to the Republicans’ political benefit.
